Julián Álvarez Shrugs Off Barcelona Links: “I’m Focused on Atlético and This Season”

Julián Álvarez has played down speculation linking him with a future move to Barcelona, insisting the noise surrounding his name does not affect his mindset.

Speaking to Marca, the Atlético Madrid forward was asked directly about the constant rumors connecting him to Barça — and whether they bother him.

“Honestly, it doesn’t bother me,” Álvarez said. “I try not to pay too much attention to these things, although I know people are talking. There’s a lot of discussion on social media, but I think there’s much more being said than what’s actually happening.”

The Argentine international made it clear that his focus remains firmly on the present.

“I’m fully focused on this season and on Atlético’s objectives. I try to block out the noise, focus on myself, keep growing as a player, and win as much as possible.”

Barcelona have been repeatedly mentioned as a potential destination for Álvarez, particularly amid reports suggesting the club is monitoring elite attacking options for the future. Those links intensified after Álvarez previously acknowledged the speculation in an interview with L’Équipe.

“In Spain, there’s a lot of talk about me and Barcelona,” he said at the time. “We’ll see what happens at the end of the season.”

For now, though, Álvarez is keeping his head down. With Atlético Madrid competing on multiple fronts, the striker appears determined to let his performances do the talking — and leave transfer debates for another day.
